Dion Bruce is a multidisciplinary filmmaker born and raised in Rotterdam. His work mainly revolves around the human condition and their place within society. With a background in journalism his work is often tied to social issues. 

His style can be described as dreamlike and surreal. 
The stories he tells are intimate and try to shed light on topics that often remain in the shadow.

In the shadow of the Dutch childcare-benefits scandal, Danielle, a devoted mother, struggles to keep her household afloat amidst bureaucratic red tape and financial ruin. As tax authority letters pile up, a mysterious figure, Bela, enters their lives, tasked with restoring order.

As Bela's presence grows, Danielle's oldest son, Tito, questions the strange happenings, leading to a painful rift with his mother. Unbeknownst to Danielle, Bela's involvement accelerates the family's disintegration, exploiting their vulnerabilities to assert control. All in all challenging the human toll of policy failures, shining a light on families caught in the Dutch childcare-benefits scandal.

When five old friends reunite in a pub, everyone in the group starts talking about their tremendously busy lives, except for one person: Matteo. Looking for some peace and quiet, he flees to the bathroom, where he gets lost deep in his thoughts. Suddenly, he finds himself in a Maze.

A film about the pressure to perform in life, in a world where everything seems to be a competition.

One hot summer day, the homeless Pasha happens to walk past a holiday home, when the temporary occupants are just arriving. Crystal, a superficial influencer, her partner Troy and their eccentric friend Lars immediately put him to work. Carrying luggage, pouring wine, applying sun lotion. But then they receive a message: Pedro, the actual domestic servant, is in hospital. So who is this man in their midst? A short social comedy about the hypocrisy of the well-to-do.

Esmaeil and his brother Sami fled to the Netherlands with their mother three years ago. Their father has been in prison in their homeland for 13 years. They grew up without him. He will be released soon. Esmaeil does not want their father to take advantage of family reunification to come to the Netherlands. He believes that his father made choices at the time that caused him to abandon his family. Meanwhile, Esmaeil's brother becomes involved in a drug gang and Esmaeil has to take on the role of father to save his brother.

In the shadow of the feared 'millennium bug', a Surinamese family celebrates New Year’s Eve 1999. They find out that having tough conversations and facing your fears can lead to a fresh start. 

While in the background they are mourning their deceased (grand)mother, the four relatives all have their individual hang-ups. Mina wants to capture the others in her drawings, Dora wants to be in charge, Cato wants to go over the documents to be able to sell the house and Winnie wants to tell everyone he no longer wants to celebrate New Year’s Eve with them, especially because the Apocalypse is imminent. As the clock ticks towards midnight, a mysterious crack in the wall gradually grows larger.
